Fun. I like the idea that society defecates poetry out of its system. There are meant to be induced rhymes - "endure" could rhyme with "ordure", and "word" with "turd". In at least one draft "going through emotions" was "going through the motions". It was Marianne Moore who said "I, too, dislike it". I think the final couplet's neat.
